TEPSA Supports the HFO Seminar Series: A Shared Vision for a Sustainable Future
At TEPSA, we believe in leading through knowledge, collaboration, and responsibility. That’s why we were proud to participate as sponsors in the recent, successful series of specialized seminars organized by Inventive Energy, focused on the transition to new-generation HFO refrigerants and the evolving needs of our industry.
The events were held in Athens and Patras in March 2025, where we sponsored alongside Contes A.B.E.E., and in Thessaloniki in May, joining both Contes and ICT Group. These seminars were more than just informative sessions — they brought together a remarkable community of professionals: engineers, technicians, consultants, and industry stakeholders, all committed to advancing our sector together by building more efficient, sustainable, and future-ready systems.
We were especially pleased to see the strong support of institutional representatives such as Mr. Nikolaos Fritsalos, President of ΣΕΨΑ, and Mr. Michalis Karagiannis, President of ΣΩΨΑΚΕΖ, whose presence and engagement in Athens and Patras, respectively, added real depth to the discussions and highlighted the importance of professional development and collaboration across the industry.
A Message From Our Team
Shared during the seminar’s opening, the following words reflect TEPSA’s ethos and long-standing commitment to the industry:
“It’s truly encouraging to see so many esteemed professionals gathered here with a common goal — to move our industry forward, together. At TEPSA, we’ve supported the HVAC&R sector for nearly half a century, designing and manufacturing certified heat exchangers for a wide range of industrial, commercial, HVAC, energy, and maritime applications. Wherever there’s a need for reliable, efficient, and tailored solutions — we’re there.” — Chara Plessa, Co-CEO of TEPSA
TEPSA’s Role in Supporting Energy Efficiency
As a leading manufacturer of high-quality heat exchangers, TEPSA had the opportunity to also showcase solutions tailored to meet the technical demands of new refrigerants. Our presence underscored the importance of efficient and environmentally responsible heat exchange technology in achieving sustainable cooling.
We also had the chance to present specialized heat exchangers – as components of a heat pump – engineered for compatibility with HFOs, supporting system integrators and OEMs in their path toward decarbonization and energy savings.
A Closer Look at the Future of Refrigerants Amid Regulatory Change
The central theme of the seminars was the transition to next-generation low-GWP refrigerants — particularly HFOs — in response to evolving F-Gas regulations and eco-design requirements. Topics covered included:
- Current F-Gas and Ecodesign legislation
- Differences between HFO refrigerants and HFCs, as well as natural refrigerants
- Replacement of HFCs with HFOs in existing systems
- Presentation and analysis of the technical challenges associated with HFOs and how to overcome them
- Optimization of HFO system performance
- Charge limits and compliance with the EN-378 standard
- Presentation of a condensing unit and evaporator specially designed for R455A — with cloud-based operation monitoring
- Presentation of a heat pump designed for HFO use, specifically adapted for R454C]
These are not challenges for the future, nor distant conversations — they are decisions we must make today and realities already shaping our work.
Educating the Industry: A Shared Responsibility for the Future
These seminars served not only as educational platforms but also as collaborative spaces for exchanging knowledge and experience. The enthusiastic participation of industry professionals highlighted the sector’s readiness to adopt modern solutions that meet both environmental goals and market demands.
Through our collaboration with Inventive Energy and other partners, we aim to remain at the forefront of industry developments and help shape a more efficient, sustainable future.
TEPSA’s Commitment to the Industry
At TEPSA, we see our role not just as manufacturers, but as active collaborators in the transformation of our industry. As we shared during the opening remarks in Athens, Patras, and Thessaloniki, the transition to low-GWP refrigerants and redesigned systems isn’t a challenge we face alone — it’s a shared responsibility.
Our perspective is rooted in a simple but powerful truth: this transition isn’t just about us. It concerns every professional striving to be at the forefront of industry developments. It’s about all of you — now called upon to think differently, design differently, and deliver systems that are not only efficient, but truly sustainable and future-ready.
We believe that true leadership means more than simply keeping pace with regulatory and environmental change — it means helping others do the same. That’s why we’re committed to standing alongside the professionals we work with every day — engineers, technicians, consultants, and distributors — as we collectively respond to the shift toward low-GWP refrigerants, system redesigns, and higher performance standards.
It is our duty not only to adapt, but to actively support our partners through this transition — by sharing knowledge, offering practical solutions, and helping them navigate an evolving landscape with confidence and clarity.
A Warm Thank You
We would like to thank all attendees, collaborators, and organizers for their valuable contributions to these successful events. TEPSA remains committed to supporting innovation and sustainability in thermal technologies, and we look forward to continuing this important dialogue in the future.
